Who We Are
Laser for Addicts is dedicated to rehabilitating and restoring wellness in drug addicts and smokers. It is important that those who are addicted to this behaviour are motivated and committed to change.
It is common knowledge Medical insurance or Medical aids in our country have become a luxury, that only not many can afford. Medical aids usually cover one visit to a Rehabilitation facility, per year. Benefits are depleted after just one visit to the Rehabilitation Centre, and should an addict relapse thereafter, there are no funds in the Medical aid to cover the second visit, and addicts are forced to wait an entire year before revisiting a Rehabilitation Centre. In the time that the addiction is left untreated for the rest of that year, the addiction escalates and families are left to handle the devastation that ensues, as a result.
To alleviate cravings and withdrawal symptoms, Auricular Laser Therapy treatments can be taken to keep the addict away from substance abuse and maintain sobriety.
Auricular Laser Therapy is a
– completely safe,
– painless
– cost effective,
– extremely quick and a
– tried, tested and proven method of successfully reducing and even eliminating cravings and withdrawal symptoms that send substance abusers back to drugging and destroying their lives.
– unobtrusive
– and is not dependent on one’s listening skills or concentration levels or IQ level.
Those who receive treatment can easily return to work or their daily routine without interruption and loss of income. Attending therapy is quick, and because of this, it can easily slot into one’s daily routine without much effort or inconvenience.
Choosing Low level Laser Therapy as a method to alleviate substance abuse, can assist those that cannot afford to leave work or school or university to stay at a rehabilitation centre, where work, school and study is not possible. The cost of treatments work out to a minimal fraction of the cost of staying at rehabilitation facility.
We are committed to making therapy accessible to all addicts in every way possible, to help one start a journey of a healthy and successful life.
Our Approach
We use Low-level laser therapy LLLT, a gentle and non-invasive treatment that stimulates specific points on the ear with the laser point, saving the individual from experiencing pain and discomfort sometimes experienced with needling. Nicotine is a naturally occurring toxic substance found in the tobacco plant. It's presence in the bloodstream of individuals leaves them feeling relaxed and with a sense of euphoria and enhanced awareness since it leads to the release of dopamine, which is a neurotransmitter, within the brain. Users of nicotine, who inhale it through cigarettes and vapes, or by chewing tobacco, gum or tobacco pouches, etc, can become highly addicted to the substance quite quickly. Once nicotine enters the bloodstream, it increases blood pressure, raises the heart rate, and narrows blood vessels. When users become dependent on it and are deprived of it, they will experience irrational thinking, irritability, restlessness, headaches and intense cravings. Continued dependency will lead to lung and heart disease and even some forms of cancer.
Some commonly inhaled substances include gasoline, felt tip markers, hand sanitizers, household aerosol products, perfumes, cleaning fluids, glue, pain, thinners etc. Individuals inhale them to get high, and create a state of euphoria for themselves.
Depending on how much is used and the frequency of use, the signs and symptoms may vary. These substances can lead to death and even brain damage since they are extremely toxic.
These are powerful drugs classed as narcotics or painkillers, manufactured naturally or synthetically from the opium plant. These bind receptors in the body to the brain to remove pain and produce a feeling of euphoria. It is quite easy for someone to become addicted to narcotics.
Some examples of opioids are heroine, codeine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, methadone, morphine etc. Medical practitioners use these drugs to treat diarrhoea, nausea, severe coughing, laboured breathing etc. Their primary function would be to slow down the nervous system.
- Why The Ear
Why We Use The Ear?
It is believed that the ear contains the complete “body map”, pictorially depicted as the ” homunculus” seen in many medical textbooks.

Laser therapy for addiction is based on a treatment method known as Auriculotherapy, where specific points on the ear are stimulated to influence the body’s nervous system.
Instead of needles, a low-level therapeutic laser is used to gently stimulate these points. The process is completely non-invasive, painless, and relaxing.
Laser therapy is designed to support your recovery journey, helping your body manage cravings and stress while you focus on building healthier habits and a stronger future.

The Person Behind Your Healing Journey.
Laser Addiction Therapist
Ms. Pillay is a graduate of the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, having completed her Honours in the Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Therapy, and Psychology in 1986.
For the major part of her career, she worked at the Government schools and practiced privately as well. She also traveled to the UK and worked at the Department of Health in the United Kingdom.
Her interest and passion is Natural and Alternative Healing modalities of therapy, and she therefore decided, after her career in Speech Therapy and Audiology, to pursue her interest in Low Level Laser Therapy for healing in 2017. She especially traveled to Europe, Switzerland, to study Low Level Laser Therapy and it’s applications in the medical field with specific disorders such as tinnitus and hearing loss.
Her passion grew deeper when her work with the Low level Laser therapy entailed working at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in Johannesburg for two years. The results of treatments carried out with the laser turned out to be highly successful, with hundreds of patients reporting a significant reduction in their cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
Laser therapy, coupled with talk therapy and family mediation therapy, can help all addicts to successfully lead a drug free life. This is the aim of treatments at Laser for addicts.
Ms. Pillay trained in 2017 and brought the treatment of LLLT to SA thereafter. Her aim is to empower parents and role players that deal with children and teenagers suffering from the dreaded disease of drug addiction with healing solutions, especially addicts who are unable to afford Rehabilitative care, and have nowhere else to go seeking assistance
